Strawberry Mango Frose

The weather here in Charlotte is really heating up.  I’m not complaining, because I’m definitely over the cold weather.  A few days ago I did some painting. I painted an accent wall in my living room, and spray painted some old windows that I turned into picture frames.

Climbing up and down on a step stool is exhausting lol, and going outside to spray paint those frames in the heat wasn’t much fun either. Once I was all done I poured myself a glass of wine to just decompress from the exhausting painting job. However since its so hot, that wine only helped me decompress, it didn’t cool me down any.  I thought about pouring my self a glass of ice water, and just then I had an idea.  I looked over at the ice cream maker, and a light bulb went off.  I was going to attempt to make a Frose.  I had some frozen strawberries and mangoes on hand. I blended the strawberries and the mangoes with the Rose, and put it all in the ice cream maker along with a little mango nectar and simple syrup.

So typically a Frose is made by pouring Rose into a freezer safe container, and freezing for about 6 hours until it is almost frozen. After freezing the Rose, you would blend it in a blender until it is the consistency of a slushy.  Simple syrup could be added for sweetness, and many recipes call for ice.  I don’t recommend using ice in the Frose because it will water down your wine.  And nobody wants watered down wine….

I made my Frose a little different, and I tried it two different ways.

For Option 1
I blended the mangoes, strawberries and Rose along with simple syrup and Mango Nectar. Next I poured that mixture into the ice cream maker.

 For Option 2
I blended the mangoes, strawberries and Rose along with simple syrup and Mango Nectar. Next I poured that mixture into a freezer safe container, and put it in the freezer until frozen.  Next I blended the frozen mixture in the blender until the Frose was the consistency of a slushy.

Both methods were great.  The upside to putting the mixture in the Ice Cream maker was being able to enjoy it in about two hours, as opposed to waiting 6 hours for it to freeze in the freezer.
