Its Summer Time, and that means cold refreshing watermelon. I like to cut watermelon and get the “work” out of the way in the beginning lol. I usually peel the watermelon by cutting the rind off, and then slice and dice it. This technique could be used for cantaloupe and honeydew melon as well.
One thing I like to do is put a clean kitchen towel under the cutting board, because watermelon is so juicy, and that juice will spill off of the cutting board. The kitchen towel will soak up the spilled watermelon juice so it won’t be all over your counter.
I feel like for a BBQ watermelon on the rind is a beautiful presentation. Many people like to pick it up and eat it like that, as a handheld snack. But if you wish to just eat watermelon out of a bowl or in a fruit salad, this is a great way to cut it.
