Grapefruit Strawberry Watermelon Punch

My cousin invited Jeremy and I over for a Mother’s Day gathering. Naturally I asked her what could I bring, and she asked me to bring some punch. I debated about bringing something that I’ve made in the past. Making my Ginger Mint Watermelon Lemonade, or my Blueberry Peach Lemonade, crossed my mind.  🤔🤔 Finally I was like let me try something new.  I was still on a little strawberry kick after missing the Strawberry Festival lol, 😆 so I wanted to something with strawberries.  I drove to the farmers market and picked up some strawberries, as I looked around I saw some really nice looking watermelon, and thought that I need a little citrus to wake my drink up some. I wanted to try something different besides my regular lemons and limes, I mean how many times can I make lemonade. Well actually I could make lemonade over and over so just scratch that comment.

I set out to make this Grapefruit, Strawberry, Watermelon Punch. I cut up the watermelon, and put the watermelon chunks in the blender, and strained the juice into a pitcher, I did the same with the strawberries, and I juiced the grapefruit using the citrus juicer.  I added some simple syrup and water,  mixed it all up, but it was missing something. The citrus flavor didn’t shine as much as I hoped it would.  I figured maybe because I was using a red grapefruit, they are so much sweeter than a yellow grapefruit.  At this point it was a little trial and error, trying to come up with the taste I was looking for.  I added some lemon juice.  It was still missing a little something.  My mother in law gave me some bitters, and I never used it. Jeremy suggested I tried the bitters in the drink.  I added about 4 drops, and the drink was perfect in my opinion. I gave it one final stir, and next thing I knew the drink was all over my counter, and spilled on the floor.  😫😩😖🤦🏽‍♀️

My 2 gallon glass mason jar had cracked out of no where.  I  was stirring with a plastic spoon. All of my ingredients were the same temperature. I was just a freak accident.  I looked at Jeremy like, I’m done.  Let me just make come Country Time Lemonade, and I’ll doctor it up for the party.  But he said lets just try again.  Luckily the farmers market is 2 minutes from my house, so he just drove over and picked up some more grapefruit, another watermelon, and some more strawberries. All night we were calling this the Take 2 Punch lol.
